Bridges of Hope for Special Needs was born from personal experience, compassion, and a deep understanding of what it means to love a child with special needs. The founders themselves have lived the journey of raising and caring for children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and other neurological and learning differences. They have witnessed the daily challenges — the emotional, financial, and educational barriers that so many families face — and the vision of the organization was born from knowing how much harder it is for families living in communities where resources are scarce, support systems are weak, and access to specialized care remains a distant dream for many.
Many children today are facing challenges in greater numbers than ever before. Over the past two decades, diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have surged — in some studies increasing by more than 250 % since the early 2000s. Similarly, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) now affects around 1 in 9 children in recent U.S. surveys, with global estimates indicating significant growth in prevalence. At the same time, developmental delays, learning difficulties, speech and communication disorders, and sensory-integration challenges are increasingly recognised in children who may have been overlooked only a generation ago. This surge in need makes our mission more urgent than ever — because these children deserve not just recognition, but meaningful support and opportunity, especially when they are born into communities where the resources to help them are scarce.
